Keep Your Focus
Focus on your goal and only on your goal and nothing else. There is a story of the warrior Arjuna from Mahabharat, Arjuna, his brother Yudhishthira and cousins were out practicing shooting arrows under the supervision of their coach Dronacharya. Dronacharya had a small wooden bird hanging from a tree at a distance.
He was teaching shooting at the bird’s eye. He called Yudhishthira first and asked him to shoot at the bird, when he had taken aim, the coach asked him “What do you see?“ Yudhishthira took his position and replied he can see bird, leaves, branches, fruits, sky, etc. Dronacharya asked him to stand down. Dronacharya then called Duryodhana one of Arjuna’s cousin, and asked him to take aim, again he asked “What do you see?” Duryodhana replied that, he can see the bird, trees, branches, leaves, other birds, etc. Dronacharya asked him to stand down. In the end he called Arjuna and asked him to take aim, once ready, Dronacharya asked him what do you see, he said coach “I see the bird’s eye.”, Dronacharya asked him, what else do you see, Arjuna said sorry coach I only see the bird’s eye. Dronacharya again prompted him, there are several things near the bird, can’t you see other things? Arjuna replied in the negative and again repeated “No teacher, I can’t see anything other than bird’s eye”.
Finally satisfied, Dronacharya asked him to shoot, Arjuna fired his shot and the arrow sprang from his bow and raced towards the bird and hit it in the eye. Dronacharya looked all around at his pupils and said if you want to shoot at the bird’s eye, all you should see is just the bird’s eye.
Same is with your goal, your goal is the bird’s eye and WiFi, smartphone, social media, Netflix, parties, drinking outings are all the trees, leaves, branches and the bird, mere distraction to your goal. Keep your focus.
